What happens when you combine dedication with curiosity? A spark of creativity with big smiles?

You end up with a powerful mix with an aftertaste that lingers for days.

That’s exactly what happened at ELIA Together 2026.

The conference held in charming Porto brought together two seemingly different worlds: freelancers and language service providers. From the very first minute, it was clear that these two worlds have more in common than we tend to notice. Navigating the changing technology landscape, balancing between the client demands, costs, and quality, building stable, trust-based relationships with business partners and colleagues, while trying to find enough time for growth and development.

ELIA Together was the place where that growth came to the foreground. From insightful sessions that brought fresh perspectives on a variety of topics, through networking opportunities happening during delicious coffee breaks, to spontaneous meetups inside and outside the conference hotel.

And the Together Job Fair.

This brilliant idea deserves all the spotlight. It was a perfect occasion to bring both freelancers and LSPs even closer together, allowing them to exchange perspectives or talk about potential collaborations. The event attracted a large portion of attendees, who were faced with a not-so-minor dilemma: go to the trade fair or attend the workshops? When too many good things happen at once, the choice becomes tough.

My pick fell on a workshop. This year, I had the pleasure not only of attending ELIA Together in person for the first time (the very first one was the online edition during the pandemic), but also of presenting my ideas during an AI workshop. In one hour, I took the attendees on a quick journey through 5 use cases for AI in localization. We looked at AI-powered image localization, QA, market research, glossary creation, and file formatting. All paired up with handy tools and followed by some time to practice new skills in short exercises. It was an exciting experience and a great way to share my AI experiments with a curious audience.

Speaking of experience, the conference team demonstrated event management prowess at every step. They were approachable, friendly, and supportive, making sure everyone felt welcome. And that’s the key ingredient in creating a successful conference.

When you bring passion, commitment, and curiosity, stir them thoroughly, and sprinkle with warmth, you get an event that’s worth attending, recommending, and talking about.

That’s ELIA Together.

Here’s to many more editions like this.
