As I share this Christmas message with you, I want to start by saying how grateful I am for our wonderful community. Seeing so many of you at events throughout the year has been a real highlight for me. Every conversation and familiar face has been a reminder of just how strong, generous, and supportive our network truly is.
Looking back at the four ELIA events we held this year, I know how challenging it can be to justify the time and expense of attending events when the return is not always measured in immediate revenue. Attendance levels show that times remain tough for many, which makes me especially thankful to everyone who joined us and to those who worked so hard behind the scenes to create such thoughtful and engaging programmes. Thanks to you, ELIA Together in Barcelona, Focus on Execs in Limassol, Networking Days in Budapest, and Focus on PM in Athens were all worthwhile, distinctive and memorable.
We welcomed 221 participants at Together, 49 at Focus on Execs, 96 at Networking Days, and 72 at Focus on PM in Athens. Net Promoter Scores ranged from 60 to 82, which tells me that, despite the challenges, you continue to see real value in meeting face-to-face. More than the numbers, these scores reflect the trust you place in ELIA as a space for open exchange, learning, and meaningful connection. If you weren’t able to attend this year, there is plenty to look forward to. Together takes place in Porto, Portugal, on 19–20 February, followed by Focus on Execs in Chania, Greece, on 14–15 May. Networking Days is planned for early October and Focus on PM for early December, with locations to be announced.
Beyond conferences, it is important to me that ELIA continues to offer value throughout the year. In 2025, we launched several initiatives designed to help us better understand the global language services industry—and each other—so that we can all grow together. We’ve introduced 11 leaders in our ELIA Roots interview series, published 5 articles on the ELIS survey results, and shared 10 other industry insights in the Together speaker article series. With 10 new members joining in 2025, ELIA now brings together 169 member companies. Our next Annual General Meeting will take place online on 21 January 2026, and I warmly encourage you to join us to share your perspectives and hear about what’s planned for the year ahead. Our plans include the introduction of some fresh formats alongside our much-loved classics, like the recently launched monthly Online Discussion Groups. Our objective is always the same: to dive into difficult topics, including leadership in the age of AI, and to offer you plenty of opportunities to connect and build meaningful relationships. Keep an eye on our newsletter and social media for updates.
As the year draws to a close, I want to leave you with this: we’re at our best when we work together, lean on shared values, and support one another. Thank you for being such knowledgeable and fun peers this year. The way you approach challenges and find practical solutions is truly inspiring, and I hope you feel that ELIA is here to support you whenever you need it.
