Cultivate your Creativity

Together 2026 Speaker Article: Part 3 with Anikó Pető-Mordovski

How to nurture a creative mindset? How to grow the seeds of ideas into practical applications for your business? Hear from Anikó Pető-Mordovski, one of our ELIA Together 2026 speakers, on her event highlights and takeaways:

This wasn’t my first ELIA Together conference, and certainly not the last one! The 2026 event will forever have a special place in my heart.

First of all, this year #TeamTranslator, the freelancer community and nonprofit I co-founded, was an official Together Partner for the first time. Considering how community spirit and learning from each other is at the core for both our organisations, this was an exciting collaboration. I can’t wait to see what future editions might bring.

Then, in addition to being an attendee and discovering new perspectives through others’ excellent presentations and countless conversations, I also had the opportunity to step on stage and talk about something just as important as the latest technology: our own human creativity.

Without creativity and the ability to come up with new solutions to new challenges, we won’t be able to adapt to changes in the industry, or in life, for that matter.

Creativity might not only bring a higher success rate at what we do but also, higher job satisfaction. Moreover, as studies show, people who can live a creatively fulfilled life are overall happier, too.

In my talk, I drew a parallel between creativity and gardening.

Just like a good gardener prepares the soil and creates an ideal environment for their plants, creativity also starts with preparations: when our mental and physical health, as well as our environment and circumstances are as good as they can get, there is a higher chance of sustainably growing our little creativity seeds.

We also need to be aware of the blights that can attack our garden and our ability to innovate. We can’t be afraid of making mistakes, stepping into new situations or what others think of us, and if we don’t cultivate diligence and tenacity within ourselves, we will never see our fantastic ideas come to fruition.

In addition to creating ideal conditions for our creativity to flourish, we might also need some extra support, something like plant feed, in sticky situations. There are several creative problem-solving methods, of which I introduced two in detail during my presentation: human-focused design thinking and the more regimented Think Bigger method.

The most important point to remember though is that creativity really flourishes when different viewpoints meet.

And this is why the localisation industry is the perfect hub of creative ideas: our diversity is our advantage; we have people from very different backgrounds working closely together. We all have connections to other industries through our clients, and this can further widen our perspectives.

LSPs can benefit from interdepartmental knowledge-exchange, bringing together colleagues from different levels of the company structure, as well as starting meaningful conversations with their freelancers.

Us, freelancers can take advantage of participating in communities of peers (just like #TeamTranslator), building on our versatile knowledge gained during projects, and initiating honest dialogues with our clients.

And of course, conferences are great for exchanging ideas and exploring others’ opinions. Attending ELIA Together might just give the creative boost you need for the next steps ahead of you!

Don’t hesitate to reach out to Anikó Pető-Mordovski to continue the conversation, share your thoughts on this topic here on LinkedIn, and follow this series where we will share more speaker articles from Together 2026.
