About Me
I earned an MA in Translation & Interpretation for Spanish from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and have been working in the language services industry since 1987, first as a freelance translator and project manager, and subsequently holding senior management positions with language services providers in the US, Ireland, and Spain. This background has given him a deep understanding of all aspects of the translation and interpreting project life cycles, as well as of the business imperatives driving client language services requirements. I have been actively involved in industry standards development through ASTM International since 1998, and recently shepherded the update of ASTM F2575 Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation through a successful ballot, to be published in early 2023. I also teach in the graduate interpreting and translation program at the University of Maryland and serve as a mentor in the ATA Mentoring Program.
I am willing to travel to give talks.
Languages and Specialisation
The main language I tend to work in is English.
My main work specialisation area would be Soft skills in the translation industry.
