Each committee is led by a dedicated board member and supported by volunteers from our member companies, all working together to enhance the value we provide to our community. These committees play a vital role in shaping our initiatives, from connecting universities with industry experts to developing training programs that elevate the skills of our members. This initiative has been designed to link universities and students with experienced speakers. This platform allows universities and organisations to access a database of expert speakers specialising in language and translation topics.

The purpose of this committee is to reach out to universities to provide information about the purpose of Exchange, the benefits of the program, and how to utilise it.

The Membership Committee is one of the most important committees for ELIA and is responsible for attracting new members and retaining current members, enhancing member engagement, and fostering a strong sense of community. This includes maintaining effective communication, and ensuring members receive valuable benefits and support. The committee also gathers and acts on member feedback, manages membership data, and works to recognise and reward member contributions, all aimed at building lasting and meaningful relationships within the association. This committee works closely with the ELIA Team to accomplish these tasks.

ELIA’s Focus Forward Initiative was created to provide an informative programme for Members that is accessible to all and available year round. Currently we provide at least one webinar or meeting each month. This Committee is responsible for planning out themes, identifying topics that are of interest, and engaging speakers. Another goal of Focus Forward is to provide visibility opportunities for Member companies.

The LIND (Language Industry) Expert Group provides DGT with expertise on the translation industry. It is made up of influential language industry representatives and meets 3 or 4 times a year in Brussels.

At ELIA, we operate with a dedicated but small team, and while we’ve successfully managed our membership and events over the years, the tools we’ve relied on haven’t evolved significantly. The shift to online and hybrid environments highlighted the need for greater efficiency through better systems and automation. That’s why we’ve launched an initiative to review our current processes and tools, identifying areas for improvement to help streamline our operations and better serve our members.

ELIA creates content to provide value to its existing members; to attract new members to the association and its events; to create trust for localisation buyers to work with the ELIA member companies; and to increase knowledge and awareness about the professional language services. This committee seeks to produce original, unique material for all ELIA distribution channels and it works directly with the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop campaigns and helping to elevate our presence and engage a wider audience.
