We all want to support charitable causes but with the cost of living increasing and crisis spreading in the world, it’s not always possible for us to delve into our pockets.
In accordance with the International Day of Charity on September 5, 2022, we have put together 5 WAYS to support charities without donating a single coin.
- Clean out your closet! 👕
Arrange your clothes into “keep” and “donate” piles – our general rule of thumb is to donate anything you haven’t worn in a year! This means you don’t accidentally say goodbye to your winter jacket or your swim shorts!
- Volunteer your time.
There are so many charities that need help doing physical tasks and you may be the perfect fit. If you have an extra hour in your week, you can search for local volunteering roles in your area and support crucial movements.
- Donate Blood 🩸
We understand this isn’t always an option for everybody but if you’re not scared of needles and you meet the requirements in your country to give blood – you can! Every drop counts.
- Clean out that cupboard!
Did you know that 20% of the total food in Europe is wasted? We’re all guilty, we all say we’ll eat that tin of soup before the expiration and it always ends up in the trashcan. Instead, prevent food wastage and take it to your local food donation drop-off.
- Get a haircut✂
Lots of charities take hair donations to make wigs for those in need including cancer patients and alopecia sufferers. You were going to go to the hairdressers anyway, why not help another?
And, above all that, if you still want to donate to an organisation close to your heart, you can find out more about the work we support at Translators Without Borders.
